End Times ?

Anyone listening to the recent news, whether radio, television or internet has to be asking the question, "What in the world is going on?" Rarely do we get to hear any 'good news'. In the past year we have heard about earthquakes, Haiti, Brazil, New Zealand and Japan and a few days ago Myanmar. You would think that the tsunami following the earthquake in Japan, one of the most severe in centuries, was enough already. Daily we are hearing about the struggles of the Japanese authorities to bring their Nuclear reactors under control at Fukushima.

It is not a stretch to suggest that this must mean we are in the 'end times'. Having said that, it does not necessarily mean that the end is near!

Jesus talked to his disciples about the 'end' as recorded in chapter 24 of Matthew's Gospel. Matthew 24:6 "You will hear of wars and rumours of wars...but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation...There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains" Matthew continues to report the words of Jesus in verses 36 and following;"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Instead of arousing fear or discussion about end-time theology, this should be a call for all Christians to be more fervent in spreading the Gospel message, the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus alone is the solid rock on which we should build our futures on, as we have an eternal future in Him.
